“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
Bring an offering and come before him.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.” 1 Chronicles 16:29

Balanced & Blessed

We are the heart, spirit and hands of God, reaching out in love to share with our world. When our financial resources are utilized wisely and we give back to God proportionately, we are balanced and blessed. We have joy in knowing that we are demonstrating in a tangible way our love for God and our neighbors.

Prayer of Stewardship
Lord, I humbly acknowledge everything I have comes from and belongs to you. I am blessed! I desire to serve you and to invest in your work through my church. I ask for your wisdom and courage as I determine your will for my life and the sharing of my financial blessings. Amen.

At Messiah Church, our annual giving supports our church’s operations and ministry. Each year, we return an annual Commitment Card, pledging our tithes and offerings for the coming year. There are three important reasons why we do this.

1 We believe returning a portion of our financial resources for God’s work through our church is an act of worship. We acknowledge that all we have is a gift from God, and as an expression of love we thank God for our blessings, returning an offering to the Lord.

2 One of our membership expectations at Messiah is to give in proportion to our income. We are not told how much to give. That is a personal decision. The Bible teaches us to give a tithe or ten percent to God. Our hope is you will commit a percentage of your income and increase that amount, as you are able in the future, to reach the tithe.

3 The annual commitments make it possible for us as individuals and families, and our church, to budget and plan for the coming year. Worship, programs for children and youth, adult Bible studies and faith groups, pastoral care and support, mission trips and community service are all supported by annual giving that provides the operating funds for our church.

Over the years, we have committed our resources to God, and God has truly blessed and used them to reach new people, change lives, and bring healing to a broken world. Thank you for your faithfulness.

Making an Annual Commitment

Begin with Prayer
Thank God for blessing you and ask for guidance and discernment. Recognize that your offerings express both your desire to serve God and your investment in God’s work.

Assess Your Finances
Take a look at your budget. What does your spending say about your priorities? If you’d like to learn more about biblically based financial management, Messiah offers Financial Peace University classes in the fall and winter.

Make a Commitment
Determine the percentage of your income you will give in the coming year and complete your Annual Giving Commitment Card that will be mailed to you and will be available in the church office and here, online. Consider increasing the percentage you are giving each year until you reach ten percent. Remember, your annual commitment supports Messiah’s operations and ongoing ministry. Second Mile Giving and gifts to missions are in addition to our regular tithes and offerings.

Consider How You Give
Electronic (eGiving and text giving), cash, check and appreciated stock are all giving options. Electronic giving is a way to initiate recurring gifts in order to give to God first, and ensure that the church receives your gifts regularly, even if you are out of town.

Worship with Gratitude
On Commitment Sunday, November 20, we present our commitments to God during worship. This is an opportunity as a congregation to express our gratitude to God and renew our commitment to being God’s stewards in the world.

Messiah Living Ministry Endowment
The Endowment provides a way to further your lifetime commitment and stewardship by supporting Messiah Church through planned giving, remembering Messiah in your will, trust, retirement accounts and life insurance designations. To learn more about the Endowment, click here, contact one of our pastors or the Director of Operations at 763-473-6968, or check the box on your commitment card and an Endowment member will contact you.

Pastoral Care
If you are experiencing financial hardship, don’t let your inability to give at this time keep you from participating and serving in church. Remember God honors your faithfulness. Your acceptance is not based on your capacity to give. Please let our pastors know of your situation so they can pray for and support you. You can contact our pastors at 763-473-6968.
