Hands and Feet: You are Invited to Serve and Learn with Messiah!

Members and friends of Messiah United Methodist Church devote an abundance of their time, talents, and service to support local, national and global missions.  From serving at the local food shelf to traveling to developing countries as we serve through mission, there is a place for you to get involved!  Sign up for any of these service opportunities at the Missions Table in the Atrium. Help Children During the School Year at IOCP
Interfaith Outreach is looking for volunteers (lots of them!) to read and help kids with homework. No experience is required and 1-2 hours/week is all we ask. Please consider one of the following positions and help children succeed in school. Thank you!

  • Homework Club Volunteers– Nearly 100 volunteers are needed to help students (K-5) complete their homework, gain confidence in school and form meaningful relationships. Individuals from diverse backgrounds encouraged to apply; our youth love having mentors and role models who look and sound like them. Open to high school and adult volunteers. No previous tutoring experience is required (training is provided). Contact us now to begin volunteering this fall.
  • “Great Reader” Volunteer– Read individually or in small groups with elementary-age youth, helping them improve their literacy skills and meet or surpass grade-level standards. Licensed teachers will be present to provide direction and support to volunteers. 1 hour/week, Sept.-Dec. or Jan.-May.

Fall/Winter Coat Drive at Interfaith Outreach
When you go through closets and clean out unneeded coats and winter accessories, donate them to Interfaith Outreach! New and gently used outerwear is being collected at our ReSale 101 store Sept. 1 – Oct. 15 to help clients through the coldest Minnesota months. (We hope to secure warm clothes for our families before the first snowfall!) Simply bring your items to our building at 1605 County Road 101 N in Plymouth. Donations are accepted Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thank you!

Donate Needed Items to Interfaith Outreach Families
You really can make a difference – one small act of kindness at a time! Please consider donating new or lightly used pots and pans, bedding and other household goods to Interfaith Outreach. These household items can help families transition from homelessness to housing, while the clothes can bring confidence to a job seeker while interviewing. Needed items include:

  • Adult professional clothing (all sizes)
  • Adult undergarments (new)
  • Queen size sheets
  • Pillows (new)
  • Pots and pans
  • Adult clothing in plus sizes

Thank you for your generosity as we respond to the needs of our community! Bring donations to ReSale 101 at 1605 County Rd 101 N in Plymouth. Donations accepted Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Please email Sonja Carr at scarr@iocp.org with questions.

Anytime! Shop for critical shelter needs for Simpson Shelter – Current needs include: travel size shampoo, new men’s boxers S-M-L, new men’s t-shirts S-M-L-XL-XXL, and new women’s underwear sizes 5-6-7. These items can be placed in the bins by the mission stable in the Atrium.

Did you know Messiah supports the Ronald McDonald House by collecting and donating aluminum tab tops? Please save your tab tops from all cans with tab tops. They can be dropped into the plastic container on the shelf under the mail slots in the Messiah office lobby.
